Well, I did it. I just took possession of an older H-30. It needs work but the boat is sound and well workth the price. I figure 3 years and it will be where I want it....

What I need now is copy of the wiring diagram (hopefully in color) so I can check out why I don't seem to have power to the panel. I realize that the owners documentation is pretty scimply but it may help. I'm assuming that the PO didn't hook the batteries up correctly. I do have power to the motor panel but not to the interior lights, bilge pump, water bump or any of the other electronics. .

If anyone has a copy of the wiaring diagram I sure appreciate it.
You can email me you address or the diagram at Nelsonhow@netscape.net
Thanks,
HN

For your immediate problem the wiring is: 1) battery ground(s) to engine block; 2) postive post(s) to battery switch, starter battery to #1 and house battery to #2; 3) common of red battery swtich goes to starter solenoid; 4) should be another wire on that solenoid post leading to your panel for 12 volts. It might(should) be a red wire, probably #10 gauge. You should be able to follow that path pretty easily.

I think you will be disappointed if you find a diagram. Some of us were able to get them from Hunter. They were the same ones found in the PDF for the H37C in 'Boat Info, Modifications' here on HOW. You could check that but it is really slow to open. I waited and then saved to my own PC. Much faster that way.

Anyway when Hunter sent them the color was lost when they copied them. They are 8.5 x 14 but still not much detail. And difficult to follow. Also under the H37C in Boat Info I posted the wiring diagram from the little manual. It is just a basic overview: http://hunter.sailboatowners.com/in...&cat_id=38&aid=6732&page=article&mn=37-cutter

Ed,

Thanks,

I'll check it out in a day or two... It was getting dark and pretty cold after a long day of cleaning. I didn't have the time or light to really see what was doing in the battery compartment. The boat has been laid up for 3 years and in a mess but I think we'll get it sorted out. I moving up from and H-27 which was my pride and joywhich I kelp "just so"..... I just hope that I can make the the new boat (almost seems like a ship compare to my 27) shine too.

I'm pretty sure it's somethinsimple like the power line to the panel that not connected.....

Let you know what happens....

Thanks all. I tracked down part of the problem. The wiring diagram really helped. It turned out to be a bad main braker on the panel. My boat is an 83 does anyone know if the color coding changes?
Replaced breaker and the radio, fuel gauge, engine & idiot lights, bilge and water pump are working. Couldn't get the cabin lights or running lights to work but I bet its just a broken wire or a bad ground. Ran out of time as it was getting dark..

Thanks again.

Re: Old manuals and other information

I rewired my bilge pump directly to the battery with an inline fuse in the circuit. I want the bilge pump to be available now matter what postition the battery switch and breakers are in. Just my way of doing it.
