It's time to replace the teak & holly floor on my boat. I have been searching the internet for flooring to match the original 2-5/8" teak x 3/8" holly pattern because the forward section of floor is in great shape. It seems that the standard pattern today is 1/4" holly strips. I can't find anything with the same pattern. If I go with the current standard I have to buy (2) 4' X 8' sheets of this very expensive stuff. Obviously, I would rather buy one sheet. Does anyone know where I can buy the 2-5/8" teak x 3/8" holly plywood sheets?

I can't help with

your request for plywood. But why not use solid lumber and glue up a piece big enough for the job. I can't help but believe that a solid teak cabin sole wouldn't be as cost effective as plywood.

One sheet

Paul I did my S25 a couple years ago and I put down a "normal" marine meranti 1/2" sub-sole and this went in in two pieces split down the center line fore and aft. This went in under the bunk faces and epoxied up to the original fiberglass flaps and screwed down to the stringers. I then cut (very carefully) a template to fit from the forward bulkead to the edges of the bunk faces. I then had enough from the 1 sheet to cut (again even more carefully) two pieces that matched up for the forward section again split fore and aft. I can't really say that they lined up in the strips perfectly, but they don't "show up" as a mismatch. By the way, I originally tought about solid teak etc. - turned out to be VERY EXPENSIVE.

Same thing..........................

Looks like I have joined the same club!!!!! Found out the past owner(s) covered over the sole with 3/4" plywood, and glued marine carpet to the top of it. Looks real nice however, it has soaked up a lot of moisture, or the bildge was let go till it came up to the sole. At this moment, the boat does not have a automatic pump. Any comments on where, and how, for said pump is welcome. Thinking I should cut, and patch the rotton parts. Then epoxy the whole darn thing, and paint it with epoxy paint. I love the teak floor, but do not have time to keep up with it. Fair winds to all, g9334

Teak & Holly plywood

I did get a quote from 'Wood Working for Watercraft', in Arizona. The price I got back was $33.42/Sq Ft., Talk about sticker shock! That works out to $ 1069.44 for a 4' x 8' sheet. I have found other sources of teak & holly plywood (for about $235.00 for a 4'x8' sheet)but they are not the same pattern. The current standard pattern seems to be 1/4" holly with 1-5/8" teak stripes.
