I have the oportunity to relocate the fresh water in our 1974 H25 Mk 1 and want to stuff a pair of flexible tanks under the main-cabin berths. The available space is about 48" x 16". (I have no idea how many gallons this is; the shape is irregular.) Does anyone know of decent flexible tanks that come in anything close to this size? I have scoured all the catalogues and have come up with someone's in 41" x 28", but I am concerned about stuffing too much tank into too small a space. Seems to me the idea would be to get as close a size as possible and not attempt to pour water into folded-over corners and crinkled seams, etc. I'm hoping someone has had better luck finding tanks other than the ones listed in all the standard catalogues, and for less money than I am looking at. Something under $100 for such a limited size would be ideal. Much over that starts to make bottled-water jugs with garden-hose siphons look practical! Thanks!

You might have better luck finding a rigid tank

to fit your space. Ronco Plastics has over 400 shapes and sizes, including more than 100 that are non-rectangular...top quality for very reasonable prices. Their catalog is on their website at http://www.ronco-plastics.com

Rigid tanks won't fit...

... under the port and starboard main-cabin bunks. I'd have to rip the whole top of the bunk off to get them in... and then to get them out? Somewhere I'd heard of a semi-custom flexible-tank place. They just choose a given size and cut the length to fit, weld weld new seams, and send it out. I can get rigid tanks made of welded ABS, no problem. I just have the problem of installing them-- and servicing them. (We are currently pulling a rotted 70-gallon diesel tank out from under the engine bay of a C44... not a pretty job. And, COST-? --yikes!) JC 2

You've just describe one my major pet peeves

Boats without access to tanks, equipment and every inch of the bilges. If those who design/build them were made to replace everything on them that must eventually BE replaced (which is everything that isn't molded into the hull or deck), it MIGHT cure them of it...but I doubt it. 'Cuz I think there must be a genetic connection between those designers/builders and kitchen cabinet makers who design cabinets with non-adjustable shelves, but have obviously never tried to stock them.
