I hope this helps...
I owned a '93 23.5 until I traded it in this year on a new 240. Obviously I would check the condition of the lines used as halyards and to raise the centerboard. Mine were getting near the replacement stage and since I am helpless in performing even light tasks I was anticipating some serious bucks. I had a ongoing problem with cracking of the gel coat near the rudder area of the boat, as well as in the cockpit. Aside from those issues my 23.5 was in good shape when I traded her in and she had been left outside in the cold Indiana winters uncovered. It was a good boat but I appreciate the improvements on my new 240....Good luck and happy sailing....
