I saw an article in Pacific Yachting's magazine Dec 2002 issue ("Do you rendezvous") and was courious to see if anyone has been out to a Hunter rendezvous before, and how they were? This years one, in my area (Vancouver, Vancouver Island area) is supposed to be at Telegraph Harbour Marina on June 6-8. I've been trying to get a hold of the contact person but no luck so far. It appears that Specialty Yachts in Vancouver organizes it. I've E-mailed them twice over the last 2 weeks, but no response, maybe they are still on holidays. Their web page had info on last years RV, but didn't say anything about this years. Anyways, does anyone know if you have to preregister or do you just show up and hope for a space. If anyone has info on the Hunter RVs, or on this one in particular, I would appreciate the info Thanks,

Hi Trevor, I've never offically been a part

of one but I did attend the after dinner open forum session at one last summer in Sydney. They had a dealer rep there and I think it was sponsored by Signature Yachts out of Seattle. The forum turned into a gripe session, some of it was justified but most of it was not. There must have been 30 boats that attended. Check this web site for rendezvous activities. I know that the HOW club out of Seattle holds them. Ran into them at Langley two summers ago; about 15 boats showed. I'm pretty sure you have to sign up in advance and pay fees to cover slip expenses, meals, etc. It depends on who sponsors the event; broker, club, etc. Terry

Rendezvous

Trevor; I have been to two rendezvous and it is best to pregister for dock space and for Specialty to know how many people will be there in order to have enough beer and wine. Give them a phone call and ask for Kevin or just e-mail Kevin at ; kevin@specialty-yachts.com Mac Lindsay "Kitkatla"

Try Calling

Hi Trevor, I saw the same article and had the same lack of success with emails. I did talk to Louis Eames at Specialty Yachts in Vancouver by phone (604-689-7491 x 790) and she was quite pleasant. She took my contact information and promised to send me information when the date got closer. Hope to see you there. Gary Wyngarden s/v Shibumi H335

Puget Sound Hunter Club Web Site

Trevor - we (the Hunter Association of Puget Sound) HAPS, as was mentioned earlier, had a rendezvous in your area at Sidney in August and the BC club was invited to attend. I believe the invitation was via the dealer in Vancouver but I could be mistaken. There was a member of the BC club that showed up but they didn't know about it and it was just an accident that they attended. This was our first "international" rendezvous and it was a real success. There was a really good turnout and it lasted about three days, including a race, er, drifter, to Sidney Spit. Check out the HAPS web site at http://www.ha-ps.org/ Scan the rendezvous picture galeries. I noticed that the Sidney rendezvous wasn't listed but there is a writeup (but no pictures)under "Articles, gunk holing, etc."/"Sidney 2002":http://www.ha-ps.org/sidney_2002.htm There is a HAPS planning meeting on January 11th at 6PM at Olympic Pizza in Seattle when, I think, the new 2003 schedule will be developed. If there is another Sidney rendezvous, and I'm pretty sure there will be, you're welcome to join in.

Thanks John

Thanks for the info on the RVs. By the looks of the photographs, it looks like a good time was had by all. I'll definately have to try to make one this year. Thank you for the invite. I'll have to monitor your website for more details. I didn't realize there were this many Hunter associations around. It's great to know. Just like this site, everyone is so helpful to us newbies. Fair winds
