I saw this somewhere a while back. Go to the hardward store and buy some of that wire they use to tie chain link fencing. You want the plastic wrapped stuff, not galvanized wire. It comes in 50 ft rolls.Get the largest cup or bottle you're likely to use on board. First run the wire straight across the flat bottom of the cup from one side to the other. Then wrap the wire around and up the cup until you're about 80% of the way to the top.Bend the wire straight up, and cut it so you have about four to six inches of extra length. Form a hook at the upper end and voila! A cup holder you can hang anywhere (lifeline, boom bail, handrail) It won't spill and its a great little project for the kids while sailing.PeterH23 "Raven"
