I don't know about Simrad but I have experience with Raytheon (Autohelm)- if it's in your budget, get an underdeck model. The ones that attach to the wheel via a mount on the pedistal, while effective and lower cost, are not nearly as convienent as the under deck model. Once an UD model is installed, all you have to do is push a button and it's engaged; with a pedestal mount, you need to bring it up from below and set it up every time unless you leave it mounted all the time, which is not a good idea. it gets kicked and knocked around, the control head hits the deck sometimes cause "stuff happens". That's my ten cents, anyhow.
