My wife and I will be in Florida for two buisiness events with a 10 day gap in between in October. I have been sailing for 30 years and we own a 2000 Hunter 320. I would like to get my ASA sailing cetificate - and ideally learm more about my boat. Club Natique in Alameda - our home base - uses Hunters and it is apealing to go there - but it sure would be nice to take the classes in Florida. We ultimately intend to charter mid sized boats and becoome commuter cruisers in 5 years. Any advice?

I am only aware of what is local to me. There is a sailing school (see link) that is in Fernandina Beach (North of Jacksonville) that uses a either a Hunter 28 or a 31. In addition, one of their instructors just took delivery of a brand new 306 at Whitney's Marine in Orange Park (Jacksonville) and is offering lessons there. http://www.windwardsailing.com/ http://www.whitneysmarine.com/ Hope you are talking NE Florida

ASA vs US Sailing
Stephan, Just so you know, Club Nautique is on the US Sailing format, not ASA. In the end, I don't believe there is any significant difference, but if you were looking to charter from Club Nautique, you might find it easier if you get US Sailing certified - Richard S/V Discovery San Francisco

We enjoyed our lessons with Captain Charlie at Windward (Amelia Island). Great place to learn with the river current, ocean tides, submarine base, shipping all going on at the same time there.
