Looking for artists for a logo

Good morning everyone. I have many skills, but drawing isn’t one of them. I struggle with stick figures, but I can repair just about any machine ever made. That being said, I would like to commission someone with the drawing skills to help me with a logo for my Luna. I want a mermaid and moon, something that can be made in vinyl to go with her name.

Might go to your local sign shop like Custom Brand Services | Graphic Reflections (signsgr.com) or go on-line boat graphics shop like Boat Decals - Custom Boat Graphics (boatletteringtoyou.com).

Tried the guys at boatletteringforyou and they said they can print it for me, but unless it’s in their graphic inventory they dont do graphic creation.

Local sign makers that I have contacted won’t do just a logo for someone else to print, and they don’t print boat decals.

Upwork website, you can name price or request design fee, several folks should apply for gig. I got a design for about $80. The Zafu is the cushion that ones sit's on to meditate, Zafu is my row/sail dinghy, where I sit...I don't meditate, but I sit quietly often doing nothing? The designer was a bit of yoga guru, suggested name, design, ect... sounded good to me. Good luck.

I have one under commission As we speak....coworkers wife is fresh in graphic design.

So I tried Fiverr and ended up getting scammed. Well I did get my money back but the "artist" and I use that term loosely, took an image they found online and removed the watermark, and tried to sell it off as their own art work.

So here is what I discovered... I cant afford the original artist's price for this image. I also found out that I really like the layout and pose of the mermaid and I would like whatever I get to look similar. I don't want just a silhouette I want a detailed mermaid with skin and scales on the tail. The moon on the other hand can be plain like in this image.

So the order would be, a mermaid sitting on a crescent moon in a similar pose. I would like her tail to be blue/purple with light fin and scale detail, her face to have a playful appearance with purple/blue hair, preferably looking at us. Seashells used as a bikini.

My father named three of his boats Zafu. A couple of them still have blogs under their new owners. Great name for a sailboat.

Your last post gives a pretty good idea of what you're looking for. It should be easy for an artist to work from there.

Besides the bad taste you got from Fiverr, remember to be clear with your terms of use. Original art has a lot of potential value. When I do a piece, I consider it the property of the client, but I get permission to repost it for promotional purposes on my Facebook or Etsy page. Having full rights to reproduce a design can be extremely valuable.

As you've discovered, you should be wary of what you're actually getting for your money.

I asked my daughter and she unfortunately had to decline; she's very busy with side work in addition to her job as an architect, and is getting married in July, so busy with that, too. She wishes you the best!

I am very aware of the rights issues. I dabble in photography, and for a while I was looking at it in a career light. I was building a portfolio and did a couple photo shoots with models. I didn’t charge them a sitting fee, in return I gave them only unedited copies of the photos and retained the rights to use any of the photos for my own portfolio. This didn’t go over well with every client, so I simply said that’s the cost of a free sitting, if you want exclusive rights to the photos you would need to pay me. One did, the other simply said she would find another photographer.

I have no issue paying the artist, but I’m not rich (if I was I wouldn’t have bought a messy project boat) I am also not looking for photographic quality detail in the image. I wish I could afford the rights to the image I posted above as a reference, but I feel the price the artist is asking is a bit steep for the level of detail in that image.

Well guys I found an artist and I got the mermaid I have been looking for. She owns a small apparel company called Happy Death Industries. They sell hoodies with a funny little grim reaper on them. She actually made me a hoodie tonight with a grim reaper wearing pink bunny slippers. I love it. But I commissioned her to draw my mermaid and she hit the mark perfectly. I didn't even have to get into much detail on how I wanted the colors and what have you. I sent her the reference image I posted above and she did the rest. Check out my logo for Luna.
