Catalina Mark 11 Bowen Island
Hi: We have purchased a 1988 Catalina 30 MK 11 and would really like to obtain an owner's manual. I have e-mailed the Catalina contact listed on the home page twice but have never received any reply. I am guessing that manuals for older boats are not readily available. Would be most appreciative if anyone could give us a lead on how to obtain one.
Many Thanks,
Faith

But, Faith, of course they ARE available

Go to www.catalina30.org and click on manuals.

I just tried that and it looks pretty new and under construction.

Try www.catalina30.com. This is the older one, you'll have to wander around to find the manuals.

The Catalina manuals are pretty good in covering the systems on their boats and also have a very good rigging setup guide, one of the best how-to-do-without-complicated-and-expensive-gauges I've seen.

Each boat size has its own volunteer Association.

Re: But, Faith, of course they ARE available

Thanks Stu: I went to the site and found a Catalina 30 manual. It does not have a date of publication but probably the Catalina 30 manuals are pretty generic. I shall download it as a resource.
Thank-you, I am most appreciative of your help,
Faith

Re: Engine Manuel

Thanks for your help. I do have an excellent manual on the Universal 25xp engine which thankfully came with the boat. Not sure if you have one of these engines yourself. I have found that in starting it recently since the weather has cooled, you need to press the "Glow Plug" about 60 secs and then continue to press it while you turn the key to start up the engine. We have installed a battery with 1000 CCAs which we are hoping will solve some of the slow starting issues. Not sure if you have anything further to add re: starting the Universal 25xp. Sure is lots to learn when acquiring a boat. But then we knew that. Many Thanks again for your reply and most appreciated help,
Faith

Thanks Stu: I do believe that a solenoid is installed to the glow plug circuit. I will check with the previous owners to make sure.
Your referred website is most helpful.
Thanks again,
Faith

Re: But, Faith, of course they ARE available

Faith,
Hope your still following this. Here is a direct number to Catalina. They are not the brightest bulbs for communication but when you get the operator tell her want you need. She will direct you to the right department. It will probably cost you a couple bucks, but their prices arn't too bad. I sometimes order replacement parts from them if cheaper. The number is:1-818-884-7700 (west coast time)
