Hello folks, I have been considering a MacGregor 26 but it seems the Columbia Swing Keel models are stronger built. Would appreciate any comments. I've been out of sailing for a time and I'm no spring chicken. Also wondering about a shore station to lift it as I'm blessed with private shoreline on a 140,000 acre lake with plenty of breeze. Thanks for your help. When I get one come by for a spin.

McGregor 26

I bought an 84 MacGregor 26 a couple of years ago. I was totally unhappy with it. I am not that tall, but I could not sit in the cabin. If I opened the pop top and sat under it, I could sit upright. It was not a very comfortable boat for me. As for sailing and so on, it was ok, but it really suffered in comparison to the Rhodes 22 I had been sailing. I have a Columbia 36 now and am very happy with her. Cam WHetstone s/v C36 - Wolf's Den Baltimore, Md. USA
