I'm an instructor with outward bound and looking to co-instruct sailing courses with them in Maine. I just completed an 8 day sailing course through NOLS. We sailed 22 foot drascombes in baja. I currently live in summit county and I'm looking for a sailing buddy to help me refine some skills. I'm happy to travel to the front country. I know it's winter, and a long shot, but figured I post in here. Thanks!

Good luck to you - while I have sailed in Colorado, never in the winter... I thought the water got pretty hard out that way in the winter, no?

Lake Dillon has a sailing fleet but they are approaching the hard water season if not already in it.
Lake Pueblo stay open year round. We had a boat down there for 5 years and only one winter could not sail (even then only for two months.)

Forever ago I briefly lived in Denver. I remember sailing on Cherry Creek Reservoir.

Winter Colorado sailing? The two ice boating pictures below are more than 20 years old now and at least in Denver there was ice sailing sometimes in Dec to March. The season got shorter over time so dont know what its like now. The top picture is from Dillon res and the bottom picture is from Cherry Creek res in the Denver area. For Dillon, there was a short time window early winter when the lake was frozen enough to "sort of" safety sail on but before the winter snow started to build up on the lake. For Dillon, if you got word of good ice boating conditions, you had to drop everything and go or you would miss it.
