I thought I struck gold when I saw the Yanmar discussion forum Nuts...it is closed. So I thought I would ask for help finding a replacement prop for my 29.5. The spec sheet calls out a 15 x 12 x 2 blade prop part #LG0255, mounted on a 1" x 48" Aqumet 19 shaft. The previous owner apparently didn't like that prop and installed a folding type two blade prop. It is really no good - cavitates as a result of not fully opening every time, which causes me to push it to reverse to break it free before returning to forward speed (sometimes I have to do it two or three times). Anyway, do any of you have a source you would care to recommend for a new prop? One other point - is a two blade prop the only or best choice? And one more that comes quickly to mind - what about pitch? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best Regards, and good sailing. Bruce H. Speller bruspell@buffalo.edu

HOW much money do you have?

Bruce: Plenty of options depending on your budget. Have you prop inspected and/or repaired. Switch back to the standard 2 bladed prop. Switch too a 3 bladed prop (give up a little sailing speed and increase prop walk). Go to a feathering prop (very expensive). Do you have the stock 2 blade? If you do you can have it reworked by Kilian Prop in San Leandro, CA. They can make a two blade almost as efficent as a 3 blade for about $130.

Prop response

Max-Prop has made thousands of feathering props that work fine. They recommend 2-bladed only for 29.5.
