I am looking to replace my powerboat, since I'm a long time sailor, really miss sailing and have heard good things about O'Days produced by Bangor Punta (Owner of Juneau I think). I understand thay produced the bigger boats in the mid to late 80's. Can anyone tell me what years and models Bangor Punta produced for O'Day? Also I would appreciate it if someone could tell me the construction - solid glass hull? cored deck or what? Thanks.

Bangor Punta owned O'DAY from 1965 (+/- a year or two), until they sold the company to Lear Siegler in about 1984. I think Jeaneau partnered with BP somehow, That resulted in the O'DAY 39/40, the CAL 9.2 meter, and the RANGER FUN (23' racer built by Jeaneau in France and O'DAY/CAL/RANGER in USA.

Bangor Punta aquired Oday, Cal, Pearson and Jenneau in the early 80's and continued producing these brands til 1989 or 1990 under various names. I have an Oday 40 which was a Jenneau design, originally produced as an Oday 39, the same boat as a Jenneau Sun Fizz 39. Several other sizes were built, a 32, 35 and 37 I believe.

Thanks for the link it has answered the mystery of when the 32 was last made and I was sure up till 1979 but your link tells the truth and I got the 1979 info from the other ODay site

All O'Day models except the 39/40 had solid fiberglass hulls, the 39/40 had a balsa-cored hull. The 39/40 was the only O'DAY that was a Jeaneau related design.
Most of the O'DAYs (at least those over 19') had balsa-cored decks, so when looking at these boats it is worth checking the deck near any fitting to be sure that there is no rot in the core due to failed bedding/sealant.
