Looking at Mac21 to buy

I'm thinking of looking at a 1974 MacGregor 21 for sale. It is on the trailer. What should I look for besides keel problems, and how do I inspect the keel with the boat on the trailer? Do I have to have it lifted in a sling to lower and check the keel for play, etc? Never had a swing keel boat before so any advice is appreciated.Gary

Don't think that's a problem

Ventures aren't known for keel sway. The only problem I've had with the keel are that the bolt needed a new seal. When I tried to order it, I learned that I had to upgrade to a bigger one, which meant buying the bolt along with the seals. But it was an easy job and it gives me peace of mind.There's a spot on the end of the keel that lost its fiberglass, exposing the iron. Rust has expanded the glass, and I'll soon need to deal with it. Other than that, make sure the cable is in good shape, and you'll be okay.
