Hello All, I'm in the process of negotiating on an '89 Beneteau 350. The boat seems to be in great shape, although she does need new sails and a couple of other things. Does anybody know of anything I should be looking for? Are there any issues that seem to plague the 350s, are there any chronic problems? I'll be having a survey done after the sea trials, but want to know if I should look for anything in particular. I'm coming from a Hunter 26.5, so I'm anxious to see how the B350 sails. Thanks for your help, I'm looking forward to participating on the forum.

Thumbs up

I have a 1992 350 that I purchased in Houston, TX and eventually sailed to Miami. We beat it up pretty good crossing the Gulf in early April and the boat held up great. I found it to have lots of room and is very comfortable. The boat sails great, I just returned round trip from Key West. I raced it a bit w/o much luck. I have trouble going downwind, but then I never raced that much and stilll had the bimini, BBQ pit, and other "comforts" while racing. Mine surveyed well, had no problems nor have I heard of any problems. Good luck, Marc

B350

The beneteau 350 is a great boat, sails well under most conditions. I have a 350 of the same age. Problems encountered have been with the engine. The Vovlo 3 cly diesel has not been that great considering the short number of hours. We had to replace the mixing elbow due to corrosion. The over heating alarm was going off at 2100 rpm. Cost $2500. Recently we had to replace the starter motor, cost $550. The curved windows are prone to leaking due to the mastic drying out and separating from the plastic windows. Cost to repair all the top windows $3000 this did not include relacement of the windows which would add another $2700. Replace the side windows due to cracking. This was an easy fix by using Tap plastic's cost $100 plus the special mastic at $40 a tube, need 3 tubes. Work is hard to chisel out the old windows. Apart from what I would call age problems above the boat sails very well and we are very pleased with the internal design and std equipment.
