Hi Rex,
V1066 is owned by a fellow named Chris Bridge who posted a message on this
site on July 23. He evidently is still cruising, so perhaps did not see your
message.

My husband Paul and I keep our Vega "Double Fantasy" #1826, on the Benjamin
River just off Eggamoggin Reach above the Deer Isle bridge. We just returned
from the Vega International Friendship Regatta in Sweden, and, sad to say,
have not yet launched our boat for the season. We are still hoping to do so
in the next couple of weeks. There are several other Vegas in this immediate
area--I don't believe any of them have joined the US Vega Association,
however. Will watch for you in the area.

Smooth Sailing,
Melanie and Paul Halvachs

Hi Melanie and Paul and all Vega owners

I am now back from the IFR in Sweden. Not seen any of your exploits on the
Yahoo Group. It was great to meet you and really had a good time. The profiles
that Paul made are beautiful, I wish I had that skill. The USA were
represented
by three Vega owners at the IFR which was fantastic. BY the way Paul and
Melanie finished fifth in the regatta, well done.

I met several Vega owners at the IFR that were only email names on teh Yahoo
Group, great to put faces to all those names.

Kind Regards to all Vega ownersSteve Birch

Hi Steve and all Vega owners,

We only finished in the top five at the IFR because Steve's friend John was
at the helm with Steve providing advice and encouragement. If Paul and I had
been skippering, we would have finished first (just kidding)! Have not yet
written about our experiences at the IFR as we just returned home yesterday
and are suffering from severe jet-lag. I would encourage US Vega owners to
attend the next IFR in Germany if at all possible. The Swedish IFR was
exceptionally well-organized--we had a magnificent time! The sailing area was
similar to the Maine coast. We were able to charter a Vega for the week from a
Danish member who could not attend the event. Those arrangements worked without
a hitch. The entire trip went remarkably well. Our only regret was that we
did not do our laundry at the Marstrand marina-there were no self-service
laundromats in all of Gothenburg. Ended up washing things out in the hotel
sink! The transportation system in Sweden is fantastic and there are bike paths
almost everywhere. Bicycles are heavily used because of the availability of
dedicated bike paths.

Smooth Sailing,
Melanie Halvachs

Hi Rex,

I'm here, checking messages every few days or so. How many Vegas
could we get together for a gathering in the Casco Bay area?
Interested?
