Long Beach to San Diego Border Run Race

Attached are some photos taken during last weekends "Border Run-2" race from Long Beach to San Diego. The "real" race was between us and our good friend Sean Mulligan, and his beautiful pride and joy "Dauntless", a rare Montgomery-23. Sean is also the guy behind the annual "Havasu Pocket Cruiser Convention" in February that several of you have attended. I was sure glad we had my new red drifter with us. When the wind died, she easily filled with the little wind we had and pulled us along. We abandon the race at 0345 when the fun factor had ceased. Sean and his crew Larry, carried on and finished at around 1100 for a well earned 2nd place.

In the last several photos as the sun was setting, you can see the shadow of San Clemente Island off to the left.

This long distance stuff is sure different from running around the bouys.
