I misposted this note in the Ask a Hunter Owner Forum. Apologies to those who are seeing this note again. I recently bought a 1994 H26. It has a lockable compartment in the forward bulkhead section (not the cockpit table storage) of the V-berth. The compartment was locked when I bought it and the former owner doesn't have the key. Can anyone discribe the compartment (size, etc.) and offer suggestions on removing the lock or getting another key? Thanks, BrianW

I believe that what you have was added by a previous owner. I had a '92 that did not have this locked compartment, and I have never heard anyone describe it before, nor have I seen it on any of my many boat show trips. I did have to remove this bulkhead at one time to repair the backing for the u-bolt used for haul-out. If my memory serves me, it was held in with 4 screws. Check the corners of the bulkhead and you should see how it is fastened in. This should allow you to remove the entire bulkhead, and get access to the back of the lock to remove. T J

hacksaw or bolt cutters...

and elbow grease to remove the lock. Maybe it is Al Capone's vault!

depends on the lock and I can assure you that was a modification by someone. I helped to design that boat. That is a first on the forum. It could be a dungeon for those scalywags.

Thanks!

If there's treasure in there, I'll split it with y'all that replied. If there's a scalywag in there, I'll just seal it back up! Thanks again, BrianW
