I am refurbishing my "new" 1986 model O28 and want to locate my VHF radio directly above the small navigation counter under the deck. The previous owner had installed his VHF above the quarter berth adjacent to the companionway bulkhead which made access to the berth difficult. I would like to bring the power cable and antenna cable through beneath the surface to the radio. I want to avoid stringing the cables outside. Has anyone installed their radio this way, that is without bringing the wire on the surface of the interior of the boat? Any ideas? Joe

Hi Joe, Mine runs through from the fuse panel back into the engine compartment down the starburt side of the engine compartment and back under the quarter berth to the side and into the cupboard. After that I run it up the inside of the cupboard out under fold down nav station and into the side rail. From there you can position it where ever you want. There is a ledge you can hide the wires under in the storage compartment under the quarter berth. In mine there are already some wires that I traced along. Hope it helps.
