1992 Hunter 30t I believe that it once had a fuel gauge. There is wiring in the starboard lazerette containing the tank that comes under the cockpit floor, into a plastic tube heading forward. I recently had a new tank constructed and installed. It has a sender included. Can anyone with a similar boat tell me where there fuel gauge was/is originally?

Location is just a matter of how long do you want run wiring and where it is convenient to cut a hole. I don't consider Fuel Gauges to be accurate enough for navigation purposes but may be adequate to tell if the tank is more than 1/2 full or less than 1/2 full if that is all that is needed. I have seen gauges located from close to the engine compartment to somewhere in the cockpit. Just like in a car one needs to familiarize himself on the way the gauge provides readings. If ever desire for a more accurate way of telling how much usable fuel is left in the tank browse the Archives under "Burn Rate" or "Hour Meter"

My intent was simply to find out from the owner of a similar boat where the original gauge was located.
