Can anyone tell me how easy it may be to route a wire from the elc panel across to the heads? I know that the compass is prewired. Am thinking of mounting a CD player through the wall (high up as possible)of the head compartment. So it will be immediatly to the left as you go down the steps. (will have to keep the hatch closed when it is raining or the seas are blowing over top) It will involve cutting out the right size hole and I thought that perhaps a neat box section covering the back of the CD player inside the head might finish it off. As always everyones thoughts very welcome. regards

How about below the sink facing forward?

Mine are located in the galley area facing forward. Access while seated or standing near the table. Protected from weather at this location and easy to run wiring under counter top and behind sink. I'll send a photo if interested. Doug Miles SV "playtime"

Radio/CD player

I installed a radio/cd player on the port side just as you go up the companionway. I have pictures of it at: http://homepage.mac.com/apcastro/PhotoAlbum3.html

Radio and CD Player

When my boat was delivered in early 1998, I had to find a place for the VHS and radio-cassette player. I had them mounted over the table, directly ahead of the hatch opening. While I can't use that radio from the helm, I use a hand-held. The speakers are port and starboard on the bulkheads, and the radios hang from the overhead. If it ever gets warm, I'll try to post a photo. Ray Trombino

4 + reasons for over the table

I can think of at least 4 good reasons to put the VHF on the headliner over the table. 1, It's easy to bring a 12 volt line to the location. 2. It's easy to run the antenna wire out the deck and into the mast. 3. It's right over the table where you will probably be doing your charting to find locations and it's out of the way. 4. It can be reasonably well heard from the cockpit and you can run a wire for an external speaker back out the power tubing. Also it's well protected from the weather. I have a whole article on installing mine on my web site. Brigg
