I am installing a speed sensor thru hull and was wondering if any water ballasted boats have it and where it is located. Noticed when heeling, if I put it to far out board it my come out of the water. Wondering how far back the water ballast goes and if there would be too much turbulance back there. The boat is a 94 26s, thanks for the input.

Does it work well in this location? My depth is a through the hull wonder how it would work back there. Have a floor in mine also. JB

Ours is in the same location as Bob's

And they work perfectly. Never had them come out of the water when heeling "way too much". I fabricated a floor from 1 X 6 western cedar - which is above the transducers and protects them. Personally, I prefer proper marine thru-hull transducers as opposed to external on the transom i.e. "install and forget". On the 26D and S (well, mine anyway) the aft locker is water tight from the cabin and if flooded the boat only rides a few inches lower. Some people worry about leaks so if you place yours in the aft locker you're safe. Chris

Sounds good .

Thanks for the info, now I have to find a place to drill holes that my wife cant watch, she doesn't like holes in the boat! Made a piece for the cockpit to sit on the floor out side the companionway for the compass and meters/guages so I can remove them in the winter. Thanks again JB
