1st time posting . Recently installed new Beta marine 35hp. Anyone know where to purchase serpentine belts, impellor, fuel filter, oil filter, heat exchanger zincs besides manufacturers reps in NC? Any info much appreciated. Jim Tartan 37

There is a list of authorized dealers in FL on Beta Marine's web site. You can probably order parts through them. I have a Yanmar and still have to go through my authorized territory dealer to get most parts. Check with a couple of dealers for pricing and availability but most of them should be able to get your ordered parts within a couple of days. Inquire with a dealer to see if the have territory restrictions and about their price policy. In Yanmar's case I pay the same here for a part as I would in any other part of the country but shipping charges may vary on some parts by location. Good luck.

Oil filter is automotive, NAPA 1344 or any other that cross references to it. FRAM TG3593A which you can get at WalMart will fit. Zincs are generic, you just need the thread size and length. Any boat parts supplier will have them. Serp belt is a little harder, it's also automotive but the parts counter guy will want the car model it's for, very few places will try to figure out what fits. A good boat engine shop might have the cross reference for it. Be aware though if you're still in warrantee, you should use the factory parts. They could deny a claim of you don't, even though the part you used could be better quality than theirs. Any internal engine parts come from Kubota. That's a V1505 engine and uses all the same parts as the tractor version. Farmers don't pay marine prices.

Jim, nice boat, nice engine. The real beauty of your Beta is that you are NOT limited to spare parts like Yanmar owners are. Indeed, it is my understanding that Beta actually encourages its owners to find spare from Kubota tractor dealers, 'cuz it's a Kubota block. That's what I've been doing with our M25.

Impellers: buy locally or through www.depcopump.com There are few others, too, for good pricing. Depends on what pump you have, but we've found the Oberdorfers far superior to the Sherwoods.

Fuel & oil filters - do a Google search for "equivalents" or make up your own table. Buy them at an auto parts store.

HX zincs - figure the right size for you HX and find them locally or at West Marine and buy a dozen, you'll be good for many years. Check them every three months until you get a feel for how long they last in your particular waters. Sendure & Seakamp make HXs, bookmark their websites.

Don't pay marine prices for stock items. Ever.

Good luck.

New Betamarine engines reportedly all come with a Kubota cross-reference manual for all parts. Have you studied this booklet? Or is it missing?
