I'll be installing a depth finder relatively soon and would like to know the best location for the transducer for the Wing Keel version of the C22. I'm assuming the best location would be somewhere in front of the keel for best results and advanced notice of a shallow bottom ahead.

C22 wing keel transducer placement
On my 1989 C22 wing I had trouble finding good place to mount transducer forward of keel. Part of problem was running line around various obstructions. Anyway, I decided to mount it temporarily directly below entryway, aft of ice chest step.And there it remains almost one year later. Since I use it mainly to anchor I figure its ok. Good luck.

I have a fixed fin keel C22 and tried to locate a transducer forward of the keel. By the time you get in front of - or to the side of - the keel and fairing material the transducer became far too skittish to be useful. I think the swing keels are much easier to work with since they have a smaller "footprint" on the hull. I finally went with a handheld depth meter and it works great for my purposes in our lake.

I need one to dodge the obstacles in the lake. There is a new crop of snowmobiles and ice fishing houses every year that aren't on the charts. (This is just slightly tongue in cheek).
