We are do just that !
We ordered a 2000 h450 with the express decision to retire early and live aboard the boat for at least 5 years. We (wife & 2 cats) retired and moved on board at the end of June 2002. We sold our home, but rent a storage unit for the things we could not give up. We also have one auto which we use for a few months while we are at our home port in the Magothy River, Chesapeake Bay, MD . Some time after the 5 years we will buy a home.As you, we do not race but strictly cruise. We no longer "Do Winter". The last two winters we have taken the ICW to Florida. This past winter we spent 3 months in the "Keys". The summers are spent in the Chesapeake & New England. As with a lot of cruisers, our future plans are "firmly planted in Jell-O". This August we are going to Block Island, with NSHSA / HSA-1. This winter (04/05) we will be going to the Bahamas. As with all boat owners we have made many modifications to our h450 to enhance our live aboard life and facilitate our cruising lifestyle. If you have questions, just ask.We wish you good luck in decision to live aboard.Gordon Myers, s/v Utopia III
