Heat would be my first thought. Heat and insulation. That would require weight. Any water lines would have to be insulated of course and you would need a constant source of power. I have a friend that uses alternate power sources... he runs his car on alcohol he makes, He uses solar energy and batteries, etc. I think If you wanted to stay on your boat inexepensivly you would definatly have to think about that.
seriouly how are you going to warm? if you dont freeze, you'll start a fire. now you might be ok in the 40's... but below freezing... why fight it? and what you going to put in the balast?
Just the condensation alone would run you out of this boat in Canada. Yes, people live on boats in below freezing temps but they are equiped in much different ways than a Mac could ever be. If you're serious I'd start looking at much different style of boats and locating a marina where you can bubble the thing. Otherwise a very strong steel hull is in your future.Steve P.
