Ola got a little problem noticing some more water than usual in the center bilge, where the bolts are for the lead wing keel. do those need to be maintenace in some way(tighten)?? pump never comes on but works fine( never reached the float lvl to switch on) worried about long standing exposure of fiberglass and water. She's a 20 year old boat too so i know she'll be a little wet. for piece of mine????

why not id source?

it should be easy to find the source if only to ease your concern. If it's the keel bolts, Hunter can give you the correct torque to ensure they are tight after you inspect them for corrosion. The most common problem standing water will have isn't degredation of the glass but the odor it can cause.

If you keep your boat in salt water, what flavor ...

is the water? That will help isolate the source. I always have water in our bilge and stink is never an issue. Terry

There are a number of different source for

water in the bilge. Here is a list of the top of my head; 1) Leaking packing gland. 2) Rain leak. 3) Leak in water tank or connecting lines. 4) Shower sump or refrigerator drain. 5) Leaks on through the hulls, valves or hoses. 6) Leaks on through the hull instrument transducers. 7) Leaking head seals. 8) A/C or refrigeration condensation. 9) Leaking keel bolts and keel to hull joint. 10) leaking seal in rudder post. If the pump seldom comes on the leak is insignificant. Just test the pump periodically to insure its functioning and that of the float switch.
