I have a link 10 battery monitor on my Catalina 34. I keep my boat at my dock year round in Florida and plugged in 24/7 with the refrig on and bilge pump on. Last week after the grandkids left i found the cord unplugged and the batteries pretty well drained. I have 2 West Marine AGM 105 AH batteries as house. I plugged in the promariner 40 amp charger and the batteries recharged. However, and here is the question, the battery monitor did not reset. It indicted that the voltage was up but where it is to show amp hours stored i get a negative number. Also in amp hours a negative number. It has 4 flashing lights (led's) on the top of the unit that light to show the capacity left in the batttery bank. This indicator will not reset and hold. It will reset then slowly reverts to show the empty mode. (it does this as the 4 green lights fade out , then turn orange then finally only one red flashing light remains. I have reset this unit several times but it still shows empty. Checking the batteries they show 12.8 to 13 V and the referigerator is on. (even after unplugging for several hours the batteries still appear up. ) so does anyone know how to reset the unit? I tried all the settings in the manual. I sent an email to xantrex who now owns the company making these, but they did not respond at all.
Anyone with one of these with this problem or have any ideas? I do not think the batteries are dead and I do not think the monitor is broken. BUT it doesn't work. Thanks in advance, Terry

This sounds like how my link 10 behaved right after I installed it. Check the wiring from the shunt to the monitor (the twisted pair that detects the shunt voltage). It's possible one of those wires has become disconnected.

Once I fixed that problem on mine it behaved normally.

Problem with monitor solved

Thanks for the suggestion. I redid all the wires that plug into the monitor making cleaner fits. In my older unit the wires really are too large for the holes provided and they may have been touching. Then I went through the all the battery and shunt connections, cleaning and scraping and making sure all connections were correct wityh the manual and checking to be sure all the connections were good. then i changed both fuses to new ones. Viola, eureka, hot dog...its now working as normal. Terry

Next time

My Link 20 has done that several times and I have taken out the fuse and put it back in. That has solved my problem. Like you, I have done all the things in the manual and nothing worked.
