I would like to run the main and foresail halyards to the cockpit on my H25 (1980). Anyone with experience in this as far as mounting deck organizers, blocks, winches, cam cleats, etc? Or perhaps directions to archive listings? I have yet to drill a hole in my boat yet so I would be interested in what the wisdom is out there. Thanks, Dennis Bidney 'Breezin'

Shop at Garhauer Marine

Dennis: Harken does a good job of showing sample layouts. The problem with Harken is they do not manufacture much of anything themselves so their products are expensive. Garhauer Marine makes good products for the Non-racer type. They are warrantied for 10 years and tend to be good quality. I assume that your halyards are all external. You will need some type of a mount that you can attach your block at the bottom of the mast. There are many options here. You can get a plate that mounts under the mast and then you can just get block that attach to the plate. Then you will need an organizer for the cabin roof (one for each halyard). Then you need two winches. I doubt that the one on mast is going to adequate (but you may want to try it out). Then you will need some type of line clutch. This is NOT an inexpensive project, but if you do it and do it correctly you will like it.

Done it to my "82 H25

I would be glad to send digital pix to you if you would like to see my rigging of the Halyards. I ran the lines to swivel pulleys bolted to the mast base. Then I ran them to a double deck organizer just ahead of the grab rail on the port side. From there I ran the lines to 2 seperate cam cleats for control. I obtained the hardware from a friend, but if I were to do it again I would use a double line clutch in lieu of the cam cleats.
