When I purchased our 1985 Beneteau First 456 on the East Coast a few years ago, I hired a good surveyor to do the job and was quite pleased with his thouroughness. However, there is one item that has bothered me since. There seems to be some slight separation (cracks) between main cross members of the hull liner around the keel and the hull itself. (the boat had been raced to Bermuda) I asked my surveyor at the time if that was something significant that I should worry about, and he said no. If the weight of the 10,500# lead fin keel is hanging from the hull, it would seem to me that it would matter? What are your thoughts?
