I have a 2 line organizer that was factory installed on the Startboard side. It is bolted in but the nuts are not visable in the cabin. I need to put one on the portside (flat area provided on deck). Has anyone installed one and what did you find under the flattened part of the deck? Did you bolt it on or use screws?

Aluminum plate sandwiched in the glass ?

If you do not see the nuts and you are sure that you have no access to the area, there is probably an aluminum plate sandwiched in the glass. My former Hunter 28.5 was like that. Suggest you carefully remove the organizer from the starboard side and check it out. Check out bolt size and length as well. Port side will be the same. Using the new organizer as a template, carefully drill a small pilot hole, no deeper than the length of the bolts you removed from the other side. After you've gone through the fibreglass, you should be getting aluminum shavings coming up around the drill bit. Mark you second hole, and drill pilot hole, then use proper drill size for your new bolts. You will need to carefully tap the aluminum plate with the proper tap for your bolts. Seal the area around the holes with caulking and install the organisers. Good luck

Claude is correct

I did mine on a 93 28.It had like a flat place in the glass.Under that was an aluminum plate imbedded in the glass.Be careful drilling so you dont go too deep. Good Luck

Cherubini?

If your boat is really an older H30 then I doubt there is any aluminum. Back out one of the "bolts" from the existing deck organizer. I think you will find that it is a long screw. For the new one I would drill 1/2" holes using a depth collar on the bit. Fill those holes with a mix of epoxy and filler. Then drill small pilot holes for the screws. Option two is to drill right into the cabin and install with bolts and fender washers. Nice stainless washers with acorn nuts will not look too bad.

Talked to Hunter - Today

They tell me that there is a 1/4 inch aluminum plate. The plate is sandwich evenly between the laminates on top and bottom. ( I gave them my hull number ) I will remove a bolt on the Starboard side and measure it's length and get a stop on my drill bit for that length. I will buy bolts to match the bolt length. If I can I will photograph the process. Thanks
