We just had a batch of those great line hangers made; you know the ones I'm talking about. They were on the Legend era boats, mounted to the bulkhead.

(Editorial comment: these may be the best line hangers ever made. They're easy to use, will hold pretty much anything, and nothing gets hung up on them.)

As you can see in the photos below, the back of the unit has a notch in it for the cord. But we can't figure out how the cord attaches to it.

Someone who has these installed now or has taken one apart: do you know or remember how the cord works?

Also, if someone has a good photo of the hangers in your cockpit, holding lines, we'll trade you a store credit for it.

Thanks in advance!

The loop goes around the mounting screw and hangs out the bottom .. loop goes thru the rope coil and hangs on the button ..
EDIT:
Start with a loop of cord.. a reef knot will do to tie it together. Put the mounting screw through the button and hang the cord over the screw, making sure that the knot is behind the button.. Put both sides of the cord loop out through the bottom notch .. Attach the button with the screw .. now you have the button with the cord loop coming out the bottom ..

Thank you kloudie, that makes perfect sense! Still looking for a photo of the product in action, if anyone has one.

More Simple Than Complicated

Easy; on mine, the line (originally shock cord, but I later changed to light line) in a loop went into the grove and the two ends into the screw hole, but the two ends did not stick out the front or not far. So, when you put the screw in to tighten it, it also tensioned the line and secured it. Hope this makes sense.

PS: nice job getting these available!

Actually, hooks can be even more snag resistant, if the correct profile is selected. Close the tip back in, like a fisherman's circle hook, and round the profile. These have been hanging heavy lines and sharing space with the chute for a year and have NEVER hooked anything they shouldn't have. I've used this design for 15 years.

The glue was still drying when the photos were taken. The lines are hung using loops, like the other hangers. These are actually much easier to use in a locker, where you are reaching down; just remove the loop and all. when coiling the lines on deck, wrap them int he loop and drop them on the hook. The circle profile also insures they stay on in wild conditions; these are used in the bow locker, which really jumps.

Sorry, we've got them figured out but still need to cut the line and create the instructions page. As soon as we do we'll be selling them so hard you'll get sick of seeing 'em. :)

Phil,

kloudy is correct on the attachment above. These are a great addition to your Hunter parts. I have gone one step further and made a modification to my line holders. I found that with a large coil of line, the loop over the top of the button tends to come off spilling the line. So I made the modification shown below. The line is now caught at the narrow part of the bottom and after 10+ years of use I have never had it release.

We now have these online. They're pretty nice units, machined HDPE rather than molded, cheaper plastic. We have a bunch of fabricators for Boeing around here and they do a great job.

They're also in the Hunter Parts store assigned various models which used them.
