Hello
We just got a 2005 Hunter 33 and have discovered that 3 of the cabin lights in the aft berth and the light in the aft port storage locker will not come on. All the light bulbs are good and all other lighting in the boat works fine.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks!

Sounds like you'll have to trace the wire and look for a break or pinch somewhere, or a bad connection at a fixture. Does the first ceiling dome light work where you stand just inside the cabin. Which 3 lights are out, 2 swivles and the dome over the bed? Maybe help pinpoint where the problem may be.

Thanks Scott,
It is the 2 swivel lights...the dome over the bed and the light in the storage locker. They all went out at the same time.

common problems

Since they all went out at the same time ask yourself what do they have in common?
GFI breaker in the head or the circuit breaker went bad? Is there power at the outlets?, is there a ground?
A wire got cut or pulled loose, where have you worked recently that may have allowed you to bum a wire and pull it loose or break it?

Did they work when you first got the boat. Did you do anything just prior to them quitting? I would trace the wire from the first swivel to the small dome in the standing area. I assume they would be in line, but I'm guessing as I've never traced the wires. They should be heading towards the electrical panel, there's only 1 cabin lights breaker for all the lighting.

Outlets are 120, lights are 12v. Only 1 breaker for all cabin lights.

Try putting a volt meter on each on starting at the first one that appears to be not working. I found that the connections are sometimes suspect and will quit working. A new splice will usually take care of the problem.

They worked when I got the boat. Checked & reset GFI. I have been in the aft port compartment the most rearranging equipment. That light is also not functioning. There are no obvious wires hanging down loose anywhere.

Won't be GFI, it's on the "Outlets" breaker on the 120v side ( right side ) of the electrical panel. Lights are on the "Cabin Lights" on the left 12v panle. Maybe you hit the wire bundle rearranging in the storage locker and pulled the wire loose from the connection in the fixture, but not all the way out of the fixture? ( can't remember where that one is, don't think I've ever used it )

I had a similar problem on my 35 Legend. Turned out to be a bad connection (defective butt splice) on a light further forward. I took al the lights down till I found the problem. Good luck
