Lifting Sling

I own a 17ft. daysailer and want to rig up a lifting sling so I can place it in the water by lifting it off the trailer by use of a single davit. I don't know the exact weight of the boat but it displaces 680 lbs. Will a three point harness that attaches at the bow eye and to two 3/8" dia. stainless transom eyes be strong enough, or do I need to use under the hull straps?

Use Straps!

Mark - Its not impossible that the eyes would hold it but I wouldn't risk it. Its really not a lot harder to sling the boat. Make sure you use strap that won't be degraded by exposure to saltwater and UV. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
