Lifting Keel hose

beneteau 311 New Port Richey
Have a Benny 311/321 with a lifting keel which leaves a keel housing/box amidship under the table. There is a fitting/ hose that drains the top of this into the the sink drain seacock. What is the function of this hose?

We have a 331 w/swing keel, we have the same thing. I believe it releaves the pressure that builds up there, so it does not leak where the winch handle assembley is, on top of the swing keel housing. Any other thoughts on that would be welcomed. Take Care, the Bum
