Ok, so my Cat 30' is on the hard on a cradle, going thru and entire boat bottom strip and paint. However, we are having a very difficult time tring to "lift" the boat off of the cradle pads (one at a time) to sand and paint under the pads.

I do not have the proper equipment, tried using a hydralic jack with 4x4's, basement jack, etc. These methods are just plain dangerous, they kicked out more than once (before the boat was up thankfully).

What does everyone use? Suggestions?

you should use jacktands - one at a time - near where the pads are now and when you have the jackstand steady slacken the current pad and paint under it. repeat as needed.

...don't know if you're at a Marina.....But, if you are, maybe you can borrow a four jack-stands and support the boat just enough to move the pads?

At my Club, we use 5 stands per boat, (no cradle), and they are fine for the winter. With 2 stands on each side, they can be moved once at a time to allow for painting the spots.

Good Luck and Happy Sailing

When you put a jackstand in the area you have already painted, don't forget to put a piece of wax paper over the pad of the jackstand. This will make it easier on the bottom paint between the jackstand and the fresh painted area. A marina in Deltaville, VA showed me that trick.
