-What is the best way to mount a lifesling to the aft rails on the Vega? Have I seen a wire cage type mount somewhere?

-There are two barrel bolts on the first step into the cabin. Any idea where I can come up with one? Anybody know of any Vegas that are being sold as parts?

Thanks,
Roy

I'd get the Lifesling mount from West Marine or other chandlery that
carries Lifesling. I found a bulkhead mounting kit at West a

mount/a but they don't carry a rail mount. I did a quick Google
for the rail mount kit but came up empty. One place shows it as "Discontinued".

The barrel bolts on the engine cover of my Vega are nothing
special. You should be able to get them almost anywhere but here's a
selection that won't rust. a

Hi Chuck,
The barrel bolts on our boat are significantly more narrow than those I have seen on the web. Ours mount on the very edge of the wood.

I mounted my Lifesling to the stern rail with the velcro straps attached to
the cover. Lifesling shackle was attached to stern cleat. Worked for ten
years. Jim, former owner of 2902.

Thanks Jim.
I will take another look. I haven't tried mounting it yet, but I noticed that the vega has just one horizontal bar across the top of the back rail. It looked to me that the lifesling needed two horizontal bars to match up with the velcro straps. Maybe you tied it to one of the vertical bars.

Ahoy Gang, launch day is fast approaching and I am about to order some
parts from Steve. I am told that I need to replace lower rudder
bushing. Reviewing old messages, I saw the one below and was wondering
if anyone can describe how to actually replace the lower rudder
bushing. Is it simply a matter of removing the shoe, or do you have to
remove the rudder shaft etc. Thanks, Trev -- V2915 Mystic Rose

Hi Trev

Just remove the two stainless bolts of the rudder shoe. The shoe will
now come away. Take old bush out and put the new one in. Eezy Peezy.
Bushing available and in stock!!

Cheers

Rudder cant fall out. Should be changed if sign of wear. Can only be
checked out of the water unless you are a diver!

Cost is negligble £12

Cheers
