I am replacing my original lifelines and am perplexed, white plastic covered or uncovered bare metal. Any feed back would be appreciated .

I am getting close to needing to do mine. Coated lines are the last on my list. I will use either synthetic or plain stainless steal.

Most people seem to be getting away from the coated lifelines. Mine are coated, and after seven years of use, they were rusting at the ends. I cut the coating back 1/2 inch from each end, and treat the lifeline with anticorrosion spray.

I got my new lifelines a couple of months ago from Catalina Direct. They no longer carry the coated ones...or at least that is what they told me a few months ago.

So I have the uncoated ones...still sitting in the bag in my shed.

A project for February I hope...but that is what I said for November...and December...and January...

Cheers,
Jim

Bare Lifelines are now standard

I understand that coated lifelines are now prohibited by the standards boards. All of the new boats I have seen have the bare lifelines.
