I will be replacing the lifelines in the next month on my 26S, any insight into the materials/type of construction: 1. Coated vs Bare lines (I currently have split plastic covers)? 2. Line diameter? 3. What about pelican hooks, anything specific to look for or stay away from? 4. Any riggers that stand "Head & Shoulders" above the competition? 5. How much "stretch should be allowed?

I just gave my old ones to the local sail shop and they built up an identical pair. The gauge is the same but the plastic coating is thicker now. Looks much better. Mine are a little loose. I would avoid the bare cable/ split cover arrangement. They roll in your hands when you want a firm grip. If you have a stern rail, you may want clips on yours for boarding.
