I started stripping down the deck last night. Anyway, my question is about the lifeline stanchions. All 4 seemed like they were in decent shape, but you can tell they have all had something or someone fall against them at one point in their life. The tubes were curved at a small angle on a couple of them and the bases have a little bit of warping as well. I was planning on fixing and reusing all of them, but when I took the posts out, I noticed that 2 of the posts have been cut down by several inches. I'm guessing this was to removed a severely bent piece of the post. So, it looks like at least 2 of the stanchion posts will need to be replaced, but if I'm going to spend the money on 2, why not replace all four? Is Rudy at DR the best place for these guys? Or does anyone know a supplier that sells either the stanchion base and posts, or just the posts? At $58, that's not a bad price for 1 or 2, but when you get up to 4, that's starting to get pricey.

Stanchions rails

The O'Day company used a lot of Schaefer Marine hardware on their boats. Take a picture of the rail and base and email it to Rudy. He may have it, or know where you can get it. Check out the link.
