The Hunter I bought has serious slack in the lifelines. Should I cut and re-swage one end or replace the whole length? Also, what would cause this? I have them tightened all the way and still slack? Were they measured wrong by previous owner? Do they stretch with time? Or are my stanchions gone? Thanks

Probably done this way by previous owner...

As long as they are in good condition I would just shorten them. Easy to do yourself using WM tools. Just be sure and get the right fittings. Some are left hand threads and some are right. The ones on our boat do not stretch. Terry

Life Line Replacementq

I have the same problem with a few of the life lines I replaced two years ago. This occurs since the life lines are not solid. If the life lines are relatively new go ahead mark where you would want the new ends to be attached and bring them to BoatUS. They will let you use their equipment, as long as you buy the ends from them, to cut and swage the ends on. Make sure you allow for additional stretch but not alot.
