We currently have a 4 person coastal liferaft that we keep in a soft pack in the port settee of our H44. But now we are venturing further from shore with larger crews. I am look for suggstions where we might stow a six person raft for ready access. I would also appreciate suggestions on manufacturers and models. Larry Jackel

Practical sailor has reviews

Practical sailor had a review in 2003. They charge about $6 for a copy http://www.practical-sailor.com/issues/29_2/features/4769-1.html If you go to Winslow's website or switlik's they may send you one for free

transom

I couldn't fine a photo of the stern of a 44. I have a 430 with a walk through transom. when out sailing I place my 6 person valise under the skippers seat, the painter ties off to a boarding handle, the ladder keeps the raft from falling overboard. I hold the ladder in place with webbing and a snap clip so pressing the clip will release the ladder and the raft can be kicked overboard. I also place my ditch bag in the same area. it is waterproof and although it doesn't have supplemental floatation it is pretty lightly packed and holds air pretty well, I figure it will float for some time. in port I stow the raft in a locker to deter theft.

Winslow a good choice

I have a 44 AC and recently got a Winslow 6 person offshore raft. It is fairly small and light. Right now it is in my port cockpit settee, and it actually fits pretty well there. I may look to mount it on deck in a canister in the future.
