Help! During a stupidity attack this weekend I broke one of the brackets that mounts the life-line stanchion to the toe-rail. It's just a bolt-on part but Hunter tells me this part is no longer available. Does anyone know where I might find one?

Find a Welder?

If it not too badly broken you might be able to find someone who can weld stainless steel and have it repaired. It might not be perfect but certainly better than what you have now.

Think you missed Tom's point.

Tom: Stupid attack? And I thought I was the only fool aboard a ship. I believe that you are talking about the small casting that is mounted on the toe rail, huh? What I suggest that you do, is take one of to good ones off you boat and take it to a local machine shop. They should be able to tell you what type of material it is made of and then they could possibly machine one for you. If they do not charge too much for it, you may want to have a spare one made for the future.

Thanks for the help and FYI

Ed's suggestion paid off - sort of. "Tops in Quality" specializes in stainless fabrication and duplication of stanchions. The mounting bracket I need is aluminum, so they directed me to South Shore Yachts in Canada (www.ccyachts.com). They sell aluminum toe rails and deck mounts for C&C Yachts, but will also do custom casting to match other boat designs. They told me if I send them the part they can duplicate it for around $75.00 Maybe this will be valuable info for someone in the future.
