Has anyone replaced their lifelines?
Where did you get them? Did you stay with cable or goto high strenght rope?

Do yourself a favor.. buy the pre-made kit from Catalina direct.
http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm ... chions.cfm

Just saying.. the customized kits you can buy from sailrite, or you can whip up your own splices with amsteel of course (or better dyneema), but there is again a debate about doing that and how it holds up to UV and chafing.

I'd kill for a pre-made kit replacement for my S2.

I have used hand crimped life line fittings to change out and / or modify many lifelines.

You need a good cutting tool and a good crimping tool. Then you purchase the fittings and line you want to use. And you cut and asemble your new life line.

Practice cutting on some spare line to increase your skill level. Your crimping will also improve after you have done a few.

It's a great skill to have.

Take a look at http://www.bosunsupplies.com/HandCrimp/ and http://www.pyacht.com/johnson-lifeline-fittings.htm as well as http://www.csjohnson.com/marinecatalog/s00001.htm to get a feel of what is out there.

By putting your own lifelines together your self, you can put gates where you want them, et cetera. If you can dream it, you can build it.
