Bad O.. Have you tried the mosquito repellers from Thermacell ? They keep our Louisiana swamp bugs (flies, horse and other, 'skeeters, etc) at bay pretty much .. two on the boat is about enough, one on the cockpit floor and one in the companionway. http://www.lowes.com/pd_675992-1321..._clickID=11facc40-59dc-4535-9e94-46c1dfc7f1d5

I haven't considered them but that is probably a good idea. The biting flies are bad and in the evening I was fighting mosquitoes and no-see-ums. I have a good set of bug screens so I would retreat into the cabin when the bugs came out at night. The wind usually keeps them at bay but there were a few days where this didn't work either.

That is my $100 spinnaker. Seriously, it cost me $100. It is slightly undersized but that is okay. The blue bled onto the yellow and white panels so it is ugly. I named it Mr. Yuk. Too bad it would be cost prohibitive because I would love to have a giant Mr. Yuk sticker put on the middle of the sail as a joke.
That sail adds a lot of horsepower to my boat and makes running downwind fun.
