I need to adhere new lexan fixed portlights to their aluminum frames. There is no mechanical fastener involved so the adhesive has to do all the holding and sealing

Memory is unclear but I thought it was Dow 795 that was the best for this??

I've seen many posts on this forum that cite the use of Dow 795 for this application.

I believe Hunter uses 795, as does one of our suppliers of aftermarket windows. It's what we recommend for the job.

I used butyl tape between the lens and the frame and then filled the rest of the cavity with Dow 795 to seal and "float" the lens for expansion and movement ( when boat is being lifted in slings for instance) You can see details in the Modifications sections in the posting I did

3M VHB tape or structural glazing tape followed by a nicely tooled bead of 795. Be sure to clean the metal with xylene. Now, the sealane MUST be tooled. Use a plastic spoon and tooling spray (Home Depot). Search my other posts on this forum for how to. I'm a commercial skylight designer.
