Yesterday I finally received the new and improved Lewmar fly screens, size 0. They fit the older ports and look like a big improvement over the original version. The new screens have a plastic handle that actually locks into the opening port. I have not yet installed them, but they look like they will work just fine. Has anyone had any experience with the new screens? I purchased them on special order from Defenders.

You can call Lewmar first to verify the part number and then special order from Defenders. I placed the order last summer with the understanding that the screens were still being designed. As I stated earlier, they look like they should not fall out just looking at them. They will stay secure with the plastic latch. I will not know for sure how well they work until this Spring. The price is $27 per screen. Not cheap, but they look nice and you do not have to tape them to the port to make them stay put.

Looked at defender - how to determine size
I looked at them on defender.....definitely looks like a better mouse trap. What I can't tell is how to determine size. bob, you did a size O but defender provides no demensions. I know on my 356 that all four are teh same size, just not sure what size that is. Tim

A mystery

In regards to the fly screens, they are not listed on the website. You have to call Defenders directly and ask for the special order dept.

Lewmar showed them at Strictly Sail Chicago
Funny that Lewmar doesn't know about them. At the Lewmar display at Strictly Sail Chicago (two weeks ago), the screens were on display. The Lewmar rep. showed me how they work and said that the screens are available in the latest Lewmar catalogue. Is this a left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing scenario?

IMHO, Lewmar should replace our useless screens that came with the boat...

Abe: Just get over it. Did Ford give you a NEW Pinto, or Chrysler give you a NEW K car. All of the other companies that screwed up have the same nightmares in their closet. The big difference is that OOP (out of Pocket) that their consumers have had to bear. I guess in the bigger picture of things $30 is not a big deal! PS: I would also like some free port screens if you hear something different!
