Lewmar Portlight Dog Handle Help

Has anyone removed the screw cover plug from a Lewmar old standard portlight handle. The plug is pressed into the handle (see illustration) and I was hoping there was some trick to pop it out without marking up the handle and plug. I called Lewmar today and they are closed until 7/6. TIA Dan

I carefully removed the cap with the end of a small knife. It needs to be strong. But if you are not carefull, it will leave a mark on the cap or handle. You need to pry the cap off with the knife by going around it and edging it out a little at a time. I had to replace all the O-rings on my portlights.
