Lewmar Hatch Problem

I have a 1992 Beneteau. I discovered that the glass in one of the forward Lewmar hatches separated from the metal frame. So far the hatch hasn't appeared to leak from rain but I,m sure it won't last long. The hatch isn't damaged. The glass just came loose from the metal frame. I want to fix it as soon as possible and thought I would just reseal it with West 5200 or something like that. Is that the right thing to do? Should I clean off the old sealant first? Has anyone else dealt with this same problem?

Check with Lewmar

Robert, I used to own a '89 Olson 911 and I had a similar problem with the Lewmar hatch on that boat. The problem was caused by the roll stops (they hold the hatch open) having too much resistance and warping or bending the frame that holds the "glass". Lewmar sent me a replacement lid and a new roll stop kit to cure the problem free of charge. I would check with them to see if they have a similar program going now. I've put a link to their web site below. Rodney Kidd C-38 #297, Flying Bear
